This is one long blog post to give a brief overview of some of my adventures in Spain, since it's taken me so long to send everyone photos. My apologies!!! I'm going to try and upload daily so stay tuned.... (Oh yea, I speak Spanglish)
Welcome to Icebarcelona! A bar made of completely ice on the beach in Barcelona. They gave us coats and gloves and drinks in ice-made glasses. We stayed in for as long as possible since we paid 15 euros (~$25) which was about 45 minutes. It was fun, but I will not be going to another ice bar.
This is a close- up of the picture above. It's made from pieces of ceramic that were originally trash, but Gaudí literally took the quote "what's one man's trash is another man's treasure"and created the this cool bench that stretches around one are of the park.
A view of Barcelona from a higher area in the park. Pigeons are like the bird of Spain or something. They are EVERYWHERE! They do not move when you get close to them, and a lot of them are fat. It's really interesting.
More of Gaudí's architecture making Barcelona so colorful. The Casa Batlló
The Sagrada Familia, another masterpiece of Gaudí, is a massive unfinished church that looks like a cathedral. However, it's really just a church. In my opinion it topped all of the other cathedrals/churches in Spain. The modern style made it so much more unique. The plan is for the church to be finished in 2021. It's taking forever because the funding comes from donations.
Close up look of one side...
In Valencia, we celebrate the Chinese New Year... which really means an excuse to party. Here is one of the lions during the parade. Fun Fact: It is the year of the snake.
We live near the beach, which is great. Well when it gets warmer it'll be great... However, even in the winter it's still beautiful. <3 the Mediterranean
Largest aquarium in Europa: Oceanografíc
View of Valencia from the top of the Torres Serranos- which was the entrance to the city. It has huge doors that used to open/close to keep people in/out of the city.
Another look of Valencia... I love this city!
The Rio- the remains of an old river. It is now a beautiful park that I walk through on my 2 mile walk to class. This somewhat makes up for the fact that I have to walk 4 miles a day. No pasa nada.
This is the Botanical Gardens of the Universidad de Valencia. We spent Arbor Day in the gardens.
